Pencils!!! Genius!!
Thanks for the comments
Can you make some type of mount so its more rigid?
I've never heard of using the pencils to test the harness of the lid. And I've been doing this for a long time. Even had my cousin show me as he's done it for even longer. And I don't think he knows about the lead pencils. So thanks again for your info. I try to learn something new everyday and thank you for making that happen.🤗🤗
Thanks for your kind comments I’m glad I could help.
It's good for the Dillon 750 press
I realize that this is an old post, is it necessary to gas check powder coated bullets?
It isn’t really needed. But with that said I still do for a few reasons. #1 they look great and I want my bullets to look great. Very eye catching boolits. #2 you can drive them little faster. Keep your eye on pressure limits and remember it’s not a jacketed round. Keep them subsonic if you can and if an ar15 then find the right load to actuate the rifle for the next round then work on finding your accuracy node closest to the load as possible that actuated the rifle. Once you have the accuracy load there is no need to push it like a hot jacketed round. I hope that helps.
@@nycreloader Thank you for your response, yes your information is helpful.
Thank you for the video and simple pencil test info! What is the lead alloy composition of that monotype lead with the 26 - 28 Brinell Hardness?
Appreciate your help !
You are very welcome
Good video- I want the pencils!
How all is well can we get a update vid?
I usually use Nib bolts which clean very nice, but got one of these to try. Even easier than the other ones to clean.
The weight of your brass is completely irrelevant. What matters is the case volume in grains of H2O and there is no correlation between case weight and case volume.
Been avoiding powder coating because I'm really ocd.. but those looked beautiful like it came from a factory. 👍🏻
I promise you take the plunge you won’t go back.. the trick is really good powder. Ford light blue is a mother good powder but I’m a fan of this one as I love green.
Nice video. I’ll likely be ordering one of those dies. I have a couple decapping dies, but need one that will accept .558 case heads.
does this do resizing also?
No this is a universal Decapping die that’s made insanely tough to power through the toughest of spent primers of just about any caliber case. So you can set up a cheap press and use it to remove primers on any bullet that I’ll fit you press without having to change your Decapping die. It’s very useful and I prefer this method as I like to rinse my brass first to remove the easily removed gunk and then decap then do a complete wet tumble with pins. Once the brass is super clean primer pockets and all then I continue my brass prep. Anneal, size, trim if needed, reload. You cannot clean primer pockets unless you remove the primers first. It’s like only brush the front of your teeth and ignoring the back of them. Clean brass causes less wear and tear on your press, dies and delivers a much better brass case to reload.
It’s a universal resizing die so it does not. What it will do is decap any case from .380 to 3 inch tall cases. .223, 308, 300 BO, 6.5 creedmore, and many more. If you need more they sell and even longer one if you have the press for it. It’s no about sizing it’s about Decapping.
I bought one today for $80
Well done. Great concentricity
Thanks - I hadn't paged down that far - I'll give it a try.
Where did you get that chart? It says notes but I'm not seeing any notes. Thanks, Joe
Do you not see the link in my pinned comments to the chart? As far as the chart goes I got it off a forum a bunch of years ago.
Hi, where can I buy a Mini Mr Bullet Feeder?
Right here www.doublealpha.biz/us/mini-mr-bulletfeeder-rifle
Nice video man!! I really like the bullet feeder as well. Hey I have a similar channel could you please check it out and subscribe if you can? Thanks
Do you lube the cases prior to loading the tube?
I lube cases for resizing so clearly those cases are lubed using Dillion case lube
How much bhn can be tested with 4h 5h , 6h , 7h , 8h ,
Sorry I’m not sure if I understand your question
My hardess pensil i have are 5h , and not scratch my lead
Mine came but i cant find the brush labeld 9mm
Well it’s a good thing the .223/5.56 brush will do the trick then huh?
@@nycreloader did yours come with a brush labeld 9mm? I have a brush that look like the 9mm one but its not labeld
@@pdxxmatt you want to use the one for “.357/.38/.9mm” as the are basically the same diameter.

Like the scope height, see too many mounted high. TC 556/223 bedded in a Boyds light weight varmint stock, MCARBO trigger springs, Athlon Talos BTR 4X14X44 FFP and a UTG bipod. Love it.
Is this better than the reble press?
...similar to the Rockwell testing jig we had in metrology at Sikorky Aircraft in West Palm Beach..m
Bro do you know it’s illegal to have the bipod pistol grip on a featureless lol hopefully u don’t get in trouble for this video;)
I added the bipod to hold the rifle up while making the video, As the rifle will not float in the air at present.
You can tell that the 3rd brick of ingots is so pure because of it's dark grey rainbow shine! I love lead lol
I agree it’s a lovely thing too bad the metal is so toxic as it’s so easy to work with.
You have the flag displayed incorrectly! The union should be to the flag's right (observer's left)
Yes that was four years ago when I was renovating my workshop/garage it has long since been corrected.
OK GOOD
Hello I appreciate this video as I had never heard of this pencil test before. I have been using a Cabin Tree hardness tester for many years now, but this pencil testing sure seems to be a whole lot quicker. I wonder if you could provide a link to the chart you found online? I've been to the pencils site, and did not find the chart there. I also looked in the Cast Boolets forum and found there was several thoughts on how the lead hardness tested out, but they were somewhat vague approximations. Respects, Richard

Co-ax press's are awesome
The primer alarm can be disabled by tipping the arm away, then you can put the primer follower back into place and continue loading for the last few primers in peace. Develop a habit of looking at each primer as the arm moves across to the shellplate, it becomes part of the process and awareness and one can also spot any flipped, sideways or missing primers before they become a problem. 3d printing is great, I spent a little time learning OpenSCAD and make new and useful designs frequently.
A lot of what you have there is Lino, not Mono. I scored a bunch of linotype and monotype recently at my scrap yard. 2 months ago, they had about 80 lbs of it. 3 weeks ago they had 750 lbs! Just stopped tonight and they had probably 450 lbs. I grabbed 300 lbs and plan to go back for the rest. Paid $.50 lb for all of it. The strips are Lino. I've had it XRF tested.
Due to time constraints I only showed some of the lead.. there was a bunch of Lino, a bunch of mono and I had a fair bit of foundry lead which is even better than mono. All lead was BHN tested and sorted into mono, Lino and foundry based on hardness.
@@nycreloader Are you a member on the Castboolits forum? There's a member there that will XRF text your alloy. Tells you exactly to the .1% what your alloy is. What form is your foundry type in?
@@thetobaccoguy1751 the foundry lead is in the form of long square bars. Not the standard lead pigs and they are hard as hell. As far as the cast boolits forum I do read it from time to time but I never post as those guys can get way to negative for me. I’m usually on theReloadersnetwork.com
The company is called Forster, with an R. Just in case you didn’t know.
How do you apply that lube to the Summit?. I have a bottle of the same lube but it's not a spray. It's just a dropper. Do you unscrew rhe zirk fitting and spray in or just apply around the edges of where the head runs up and down the column?
You can lube the piston shaft itself then actuate the piston up and down. The best method is to use a lubricant like this and a grease gun from you local hardware store. Take a picture of the fitting on the press to show them at the hardware store. Easy peazy. The lube I was talking about is also available in tube form online as well.
@@nycreloader many thanks. I have used the same stuff as you. She's like butter now. Great idea to use it.
@@kris308100 if you think it works well on a press try it on your AR15 in your bolt carrier group. You will be floored. Let me know if you try it.
@@nycreloader I would if I could my friend. We are not allowed beautiful things like that here in the uk.
@@kris308100 yeah the country we were a part of long ago tried that gun restrictions stuff on us and we rebelled.
Nice video, can I load 5.56 brass to .223 specs?
They're identical specs, so uh, yeah. The difference between 223 and 5.56 is the chamber, not the case.
Do you ever have trouble with the finish of the PC where it contacts the walls of the ice cube trey? This is my second time watching this video. Thank you!
So far all my bullets look amazing no rub marks and I have made easily 15,000 pc bullets using this method.
@@nycreloader That's good to hear. I've got the silicon trays, but I'm not sure that I will use it. I'm going to have to see how well my bullets will stand on their own.
@@leadsmith5873 whatever works for you my friend. I got the trays because I had so many bullets falling over and I wanted perfect looking bullets cause I’m crazy like that.

What would happen if you just dropped the whole tray with the bullets in the cold water would that make them release better out of the tray?
Yes it does but at the time I was juggling the camera at the same time. Demonstration while filming makes it feel like you only have one hand at times.
Thank you ❤️
My pleasure.
I learned about your channel during a live stream that I was invited to join by JH586. Thanks for the tips!
a huge aspect as well, is, When using range brass, or unknown brass.. many people these days choose to use a heavy primer sealer ( usually super glue ).. and that will break a lot of de-capping pins.. and its wiser to use a universal de-capper- with after market strong decapper inserts.. after market strong made - decapper pins.. I have broken several Lee pins , on the strange brass that the former shooter used a super glue primer sealer..
I could not agree more. I Decapp all my cases with this die. It makes a huge difference. Also on that note… every manufacturer who still makes berdan primers or makes ammo with then should burn in hell.
Squirrel Daddy makes much stronger pins for Lee decapping dies. They have ones for the universal decap die, and ones for the APP decapper, so be sure to order the correct one.
@@JeffinTDyes !! Totally . Happened to me ! Lmao . Errrrr I am glad I am not the only one!
@@Maine307 I was pleased to find out about Squirrel Daddy pins, as I use the Lee APP deprime die on an APP as a dedicated automated deprime machine. The APP Deprime die has guide fingers and does away with the bobble prone Lee X-press shell holders- but the pins wouldn’t hold up for me with military crimped and sealed primers.
Lock washer or locking nut? Also can you do any casing with that. Like military crimp .223? My lee resizing/decapping die constantly pushes the pin out. Its not that it is ready to break because I end up tapping the pin with a small ball peen hammer which knocks the cap out without incident. Not sure why Lee allows the pin to slide so easily far ahead of the breaking point
He should have used the proper name that reloaders call them, i.e. lock ring.
Have you tried the lee swage die. It's similar to the rcbs that doesn't work on this press. But the bottom cup has a spring built in ,(I guess) In a string on Midway. It's comment it doesn't work. But I think it will.
I have not tried to swage here because I do case prep on my Dillon 650 with my swage it progressively. Otherwise it’s small batch reloads like my 338 Lapua magnum and I like doing those by have on my Dillon swagger. In addition I have five presses I use I mostly use this one when I’m traveling and need to reload. Reloading setup in a five gallon bucket
Do you use some kind of liquid adherent for powder paint to stick to the bullet?
Nothing needed. When you use the right plastic container and maybe some plastic airsoft bbs you generate static electricity on the metal surface the powder clings to it that way. They you bake them according to the manufacturer of the powder and you are all set.
